I Climbed a Lot of Things This Week… AND DIDN’T DIE! WOO!

So on Monday we climbed (in an elevator) to the very top of Marina Bay Sands, which is this beautiful, schmancy hotel that has a boat on top and overlooks all of Singapore, and from which you can see Indonesia and JB (Johor Bahru, Malaysia), so that was cool šŸ™‚ Sister F from CCK took us all up, and took some amazing photos so you’ll probably see those next week! It was great!

On Tuesday we did a skit of Alma 47, wherein Amalickiah lures Lehonti to come down from his mountain, so we made a ‘mountain’ out of chairs and completely acted it out infront of our district for district meeting, it was hilarious. At the end Amalickiah poisons Lehonti, and so Elder Stowell grabbed a water bottle to be the ‘poison’, but what Sister Rama didn’t expect was for him to POUR it on her! It was great, and it’s been requested we perform it for the Chinese District. šŸ™‚ The other half of our district did Jonah and the whale, which was also very good. šŸ™‚
Afterwards we did heart attacking and butterflying, and practiced singing an ‘Abide With Me’ medley we made up for our missionary fireside/board game night this last Saturday. It was beautiful! I’m blessed to be in a ward full of excellent singers.

Later we went and ‘butterflyed’ E and C, because we have now learned how to origami butterflies! It was super fun. šŸ™‚
On Wednesday we kind of had a crazy day, with lots of appointments, etc. And we met with J!! She was a referral from Mormon.org, which is a website which is for if you’re interested in learning more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She went on and requested a Book of Mormon, so we visited with her and it was fantastic because she is really, really open! She is currently Methodist, but is starting to learn about other religions. We were able to testify to her of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and this true church! I love bearing testimony, it is so exhilarating!

On Friday we went and did service at a home for the mentally disabled, and we did singing time! It was SO cute to see all of them singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”, “Once There Was a Snowman”, “Hinges”, “The Wise Man and the Foolish Man”, etc.! Since it was Halloween, we wore witches’ hats and basically just had a blast!

Afterwards we went to see Sister P at the hospital, and brought Halloween Cheer to the hospital! She is such a sweet lady, and will hopefully be released soon!
After Sister P we went to the church to practice “Abide With Me” again, and when we got there the gate was locked and the Boyters weren’t there to unlock it…. So we hopped the fence. ‘Twas great fun! And we all made it over in 30 seconds flat. It was hilarious, though, because later the elders showed up and we were just sitting inside the locked courtyard on a bench, and they were like, “How do we get in?” and we just said, “Climb it!” And, well, let’s just say they struggled a bit more than the sisters. It was hilarious to watch. šŸ™‚ #SistersForTheWin!

Afterwards the Sisters got to have chocolate coke with the Boyters, for probably the last time since they are transferring šŸ˜¦
On Saturday we had splits, so Sister Parcell came with Sister Rama and I, and we met with a great potential named E, who is a graphic designer and had sweet Pikachu nails! She currently goes to City Harvest, a charismatic church.
Later that afternoon, we went to teh Boyters’ house to get Sister Parcell’s backpack and they had locked it! But not to fear, a window was open so I made like a cat and got in and got it šŸ™‚ I have discovered that I could make a very good burglar on my mission, but I solemnly swear to only use my powers for good! I showed the pictures to Elder Boyter and he laughed SO hard at our shenanigans. šŸ™‚ #WhyILoveSeniorCouples

On Saturday night we had a great board game/fireside night!! Everyone gathered at the church and we played things like “Taboo” and “Applies to Apples” and “Sleeping Queens”, etc., ate snacks, and then we had a beautiful fireside all about how we are children of God, and we watched the Mormon Message “Our True Identity” by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. It’s a beautiful message about how we can each achieve our potential, once we realize who we are: Sons and Daughters of God.
On Sunday we went to a marathon of 6 hours of church, while fasting. And we taught Sunday School in both sessions. BUT it was still great. It’s amazing how much the Spirit can strengthen and aid you when you need it!
This week was pretty insane, with covering both wards and rushing everywhere! I know there are miracles when we do as we are prompted, and everything is for a reason. We will be strengthened when we are weak, we will be made laughing when we are sad, and no matter what if we are patient all things will be alright. It’s not the temporal results that matter, but what we make of ourselves in our own spheres. We cannot know the end until we get there, so hope is what keeps us going till then! Stay strong and carry on! Remember that we have been given for ourselves to choose. That is the greatest gift we have, and if we use it wisely we WILL have eternal LIFE, full of joy and purpose. And if we don’t, we will get our reward. But I know that all things are possible through Christ, I know that He has lifted me out of darkness too many times to count, that when I have been too tired, too worn down, too heavy hearted to go on, that somehow He has been there right with me in the trenches. We are each in our own wars, our own battles, and I testify with all my heart that we are NEVER alone. So have a great week everyone! And see the miracles, because they’re absolutely everywhere! The world is beautiful! Love you!
In the most holy and sacred name of Jesus Christ, I say these things. Amen.
Love,
Sister Schriever
